The Summer X Games XIV to be held in Los Angeles, California from Thursday, July 31 to August 3 will be broadcasted on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2. ESPN Networks is planning to bring 20 hours of live coverage of the X Games in high-definition. ESPN360.com, EXPN.com, ESPN Classic, ESPN International, SportsCenter and ESPN2’s X Center will also bring additional coverage of the event.

Cablevision delivers 15 New HD Channels Starting From Monday

Cablevision Systems Corporation has added 15 new high-definition channels to its iO TV HD line-up on Monday, July 28. Cablevision now offers 60 high-definition channels for its iO TV subscribers for no extra programming fees or equipment. Cablevision’s new addition of 15 new high-definition channels will be completed on August 1, 2008. The new HD channels comes to Cablevision customers before the DISH Networks scheduled launch of 17 new HD channels, which starts from August 1. Cablevision started adding following HD channels from Monday :

Dish Network’s HD Satellite ‘EchoStar XI’ Launch a Success

Dish Network has successfully launched a new satellite ‘EchoStar XI’ lastweek to expand its high-definition programming. Dish Network’s satellite launch, AMC-14 during March failed to reach the orbit, which was a major set back for the satcaster. Even though DISH Network started delivering new HD channels and recently announced that they will launch 17 new HD channels on August 1 to be the first Satellite TV provider to reach 100 HD channels. Dish Network’s competitor DirecTV already has a satellite DIRECTV 11 in the orbit and expected to deliver new HD channels starting from September. Dish Network also have plans to launch another satellite before

the end of the year.

ESPN.com Launches Streak For The Cash Daily Fantasy Game

ESPN has announced the launch of beta version of Streak for the Cash, a daily fantasy sports game. A game show allows players to select the outcome of various daily sports-related propositions and has announced prize money of $1 million when a player reaches a streak of 25 correct picks. Subscribers of ESPN Insider can start playing the beta version and the game will be launched to public later this summer. The price money will be awarded only after the launch but during the beta trial players can play and if they makes 15 correct picks, the winner will be awarded with a $4,500 American Express gift card.

British Open 2008 Broadcast Schedule on ABC

The Open Championship started in 1860′s, also known as The British Open is the oldest of the four major championships in men’s golf and only major held outside the USA is administered by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. The Open Championship 2008 to be held in Royal Birkdale Golf Club, Southport, Lancashire, England between July 17-20, 2008. ESPN production has made arrangements to broadcast The Open Championship 2008 live on ABC including live weekend coverage on Saturday, July 19 between 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM ET and Sunday, July 20 between 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM ET. Additionally, on ABC, SportsCenter at the Open Championship late-night highlight shows will air following the Thursday and Friday rounds from 1:05-1:35 AM and Saturday and Sunday from 5:00-6:00 PM.

SportsCenter will present a preview special on The Open Championship airing on Sunday, July 13 at 1:00 PM ET, ABC will broadcast 11 hours of live Open Championship coverage and also a late night first and second round re-cap and weekend afternoon highlight shows.

Mike Tirico will anchor the telecast and will be joined by 2008 Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger and five time Open Champion Tom Watson. Hole announcers will be Peter Alliss and Terry Gannon and Andy North, Judy Rankin and Bill Kratzert as on-course reporters. Tom Rinaldi will provide essays and interviews and Rick Reilly of ESPN The Magazine will present commentary.
